Blink for Home was an early entry into the market for wireless home security cameras. Their team of engineers had developed cutting-edge hardware, but lacked any consumer-facing software to control it. They imagined a simple, intuitive iPhone app that would allow customers to configure their cameras, monitor their home, and enjoy peace of mind.
I lead a UX design process that defined the experience from unboxing through camera setup and day-to-day usage. The outcome was an iOS app designed around visually communicating status through snapshots from the cameras, color, and iconography. Once a camera was set up, any activity that it observed triggered a push notification with a detailed message and a recording. The app enabled users to watch recordings on the spot or access them later from a searchable archive.
- I collaborated with stakeholders on the Blink team to establish functional requirements.
- I documented user flows for account creation, camera setup, and day-to-day usage.
- I created wireframes and clickable prototypes.
- I designed the iOS app UI and iconography.
